Tchaikovsky’s chamber music was interwoven with AI-animated paintings, synesthetic visuals, and an interactive narrative that places the audience at centre stage. This fusion created a dynamic interplay between music, words, moving images, digital scenography, electronic literature, and gamification elements, thereby opening up new avenues for exploring the intersections between artistic media.
Moving beyond traditional text-based programme notes, we offered a multimedia commentary on the music. Instead of solely focusing on the historical context of Tchaikovsky’s piano trio, we crafted a short science-fiction narrative that reimagines his legacy in a millennium ahead — a speculative future where the cacophony of artificial sounds jeopardises humanity’s cosmic ambitions in interplanetary competition, suggesting that our ultimate salvation might lie in silence. This narrative isn’t merely an extension of the music; it’s a ‘prompt’ to reflect on our simultaneous fear and hope for the future of classical music and human creativity.
